Can I Apply for a Tourist Visa Online? If So What is the Procedure?

Millions of people travel to the United States every year for various purposes such as tourism, medical treatment, employment and for education and such individuals who seek to visit the country temporarily will have to obtain temporary non-immigrant visas. Likewise, people who seek to travel to America for tourism must obtain B-2 visas and they can apply for these visas, online. With these B-2 visas, they can get into the United States as tourists and they can travel to America with these B-2 visas to visit their friends. They can also undergo medical treatment in America, while in America on B-2 visas and B-2 visa holders can participate in social events and enroll in short term recreational courses but they may not accept employment in the country while in the country on tourist visas.

Foreign nationals who seek to obtain tourist visas, must complete Form DS-160, Online Non-immigrant Visa Application. After completing and submitting the petition, they will be directed to the confirmation page and they need to print that page and retain it as they will have to bring that page to the visa interview. Moreover, photographs that meet the specifications must be uploaded while completing the online visa applications. After they submit their applications, interviews with consular officers will be scheduled and the visa applicants must appear for those interviews without fail. B-2 visa applicants below age 13 and applicants above age 80 may not be required to appear for visa interviews. Nevertheless, applicants between ages 14 and 79 may be required to report for interviews and the interviews will be scheduled in the US embassies or consulates where the applicants live.
B-2 visa applicants may be required to pay the visa application fees prior to the interviews and the visa reciprocity after the approval of their visa applications. Applicants who are required to appear for interviews will have to collect few documents such as their passports, visa application confirmation pages, fee payment receipts and photographs as those documents will be reviewed by the interviewing offices during the interview. In certain cases, additional documents may be required and the applicants may be required to prove that they will get back to their home countries after their visit and that they have enough resources to support themselves financially while in America.
The consular officers will determine whether the applicants are eligible for US visas, during the interviews and it is the responsibility of the applicants to establish that they meet the requirements to receive tourist visas. Applicants will be required to submit fingerprints during the interviews and after the approval of the visa applications, they must pay the visa issuance fee and nationals of all the countries may not be required to pay this fee. Their passports with visa stamps will be delivered to them by courier or they may also collect their passports from the consular offices.
